Who we are

  • Consulting Engineers providing dedicated structural and civil design services to all sectors of the construction industry.
  • The practice was established in 1988, and incorporated into a limited company in 2002. Since formation, projects undertaken have covered every aspect of development and construction work and, as a consequence, our loyal client base is wide and varied.
  • The practice is currently progressing towards full BIM compliance. IT plays a major role within the practice, and extensive use of up to date 3D-modelling and finite element analysis software generates accurate and, above all, cost effective solutions for our clients, particularly for framed buildings.

WAA has embraced Building Information Modelling (BIM) within the Company Business Management System which meets the requirements of the various Standards, Methods and Procedures such as PAS1192-2:2013. Our BIM protocols are constantly updated, and we can work comfortably within like-minded design teams

6D BIM, an acronym for 6-dimensional Bulding Information Modelling which means:

  • BIM 3D refers to design and 3D modelling to communication design intent.
  • BIM 4D adds the aspect of time to a project, so the models are aligned to the programme to communicate construction sequencing and timelines.
  • BIM 5D adds the aspect of cost to a project quantities and data is harvested from the model to use in commercial activities.
  • BIM 6D is the operational part of BIM. This is where a model has been handed over to a client and they can then use this to assist in asset management activities. Data can be assigned to model objects that can then be used by a client to assist in life cycle cost programmes.
